The Directorate of Handlooms and Textiles was established in the year 1979, to protect and promote the production in handloom and textile industry in the state. It has the overall responsibility to support the areas of infrastructure, marketing, human resource development, conservation and preservation of traditional skills and products, finance, design input, raw material supply, export, modernization, welfare programs, price stability to equip the segment to compete in a globalized environment.
